One Filipino convenes Pinoy communities in Britain

19 FEBRUARY 2011 will mark as a monumental day for all Pinoy organizations and individuals in the UK to gather and to participate in one-day event – The Conference of Filipinos for Good Governance at Baden Powell House Conference Center, London.

The conference aims to bring together all Filipinos in one special conference that discuss three aspects of community leadership: strengthening community involvement in the UK, promoting active participation in Philippine affairs, and providing access to academic research on the Filipino community. In addition, the program will also focus on the concept of good governance, the current state of the Filipinos in the UK, and a proposal of a manifesto for good governance demonstrating a united support to the current Aquino administration. Specifically, the manifesto will cover the following: recommendation to the P-Noy’s flagship policies of good governance and poverty alleviation, a covenant of support towards the Philippine government in terms of its foreign policy towards the UK, and a testament of leadership to protect Filipinos’ needs and welfare in Britain.

The organizer, ONE FILIPINO is a group supporting local Filipino organizations in the UK, providing its members with guidance and support towards their respective organizations and it offers subsidized fees on events and trainings offered by the group.  One Filipino conceptualized this event after the success of the Worldwide Conference of Overseas Filipinos for Good Governance held in Manila last July 2010, as well as to commemorate the 25th anniversary of EDSA People Power revolution. The Manila conference last July was convened through the Commission for Filipino Overseas (CFO).

The Conference of Filipinos for Good Governance also aims to create partnerships among Filipino organizations and individuals in building stronger communities in the UK.

If you are interested to attend, contact ONE FILIPINO Secretariat at or by calling +44 7973951291. You can also visit their website: or you can join the group through its Facebook social network or tweet them

NOTE: There are three registration fee packages for participants that will cover lifetime membership with ONE FILIPINO, including membership certificate and card, souvenir program, handbook, and conference materials.
