Bona supports Filipino artists

TOGETHER WITH OFFICEMATES, I watched a local play production at the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) in Quezon City (near Christ the King Church) last week.  Adapted from a movie with the same title, BONA was directed by Soxie Topacio and with Eugene Domingo and Edgar Allan Guzman as the main cast of the play. This is my second time to watch Topacio’s direction while the first one was 14 years ago with his 1896 musical production (Ariel Rivera was the lead actor).

As expected, Ms Domingo made the audience laugh until the last scene of the play.  Aside from a fulltime employee at a call center, she also maintains a parttime online job (card reading and teaching English).  She is a caring aunt, sister and a loyal friend. But she totally changed after watching a reality show and became obsessed to support an aspiring actor.  Being a generous fan, she tried all the possibilities to help Gino Sanchez fulfil his dream. Even with its comical theme, the ending was tragic.

Lesson learned? Kindness is being abused by others. It is good to be a kind-hearted person. But sometimes, being such a thoughtful and caring individual, some people take advantage of our gesture – we are used by other people for their own benefit!
